How are the needs of children/young people identified?
To identify the needs of our pupils/students all sources of information are used:
-
Primary School information
-
Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 data
-
parent comments
-
review data
-
key assessment results
-
teacher observation
-
teaching assistant observation
-
all pupils/students are assessed on entry using the following screening tests:
-
reading test.
Note: Some pupils/students will trigger further assessments if their reading score is significantly below that expected of their age.
Those pupils/students who have had intervention in Years 7, 8 and 9 are retested and assessed at the end of the intervention period. When all assessments and information gathering are complete a decision will be made regarding next steps. Those pupils/students identified as having additional needs will be offered appropriate interventions.
