School Meals & Payment System
Snacks and drinks are available from the canteen at break time and a range of meals are available from the canteen at lunch time. The cost of a school meal will be £2.90 from September. Pupils may bring in a snack for break time or a packed lunch if they wish which they will be able to eat in the dining hall. To top up your child's lunch account, pupils can bring cash in to feed into the 'Re-val machines' which are located in the school (next to the dining hall for Years 7 and 8 and on the main corridor outside the office for all pupils on the Prospect Hill Site). Staff will be available to help with this. If your child is entitled to a free school meal, the funding for this will be available on their account each day up to the value of the normal school meal. (Amounts spent above this, must be paid for by putting additional money onto your child's account.) To check whether your child is entitled to a free school meal if they are not already claiming this, you will need to apply via North Yorkshire Council.
Parents can top up lunch accounts online using the MCAS app/website facility. The link for this is https://www.mychildatschool.com/MCAS/MCSParentLogin. Please note that pupils should have sufficient credit on their account before taking food or drink from the canteen. Most pupils have already had their fingerprint taken so that they can use the school’s cashless catering system. If they haven’t, then staff will ensure that this is done. Please ensure that your child’s account is topped up sufficiently, for at least the week ahead, so that their account remains in credit for taking any food or drink from the canteen.
Our catering team provide a range of nutritious meals for our pupils. All food is locally sourced and contributes to ensuring a balanced diet, free from deep-fried products. Our Catering Managers bring a great wealth of expertise and knowledge to the school. Our dedicated team always provide service with a smile and help to make the dining hall an active and enjoyable part of school life at break and lunch time. The staff will have details of any allergies individual pupils have, providing you have given this information to the school office - please ensure that your child's personal details are always kept up to date with the school.
